August: A Soundtrack

Life is weird. Choices often take you in directions you never would have considered before, and lead you to go places and meet people you otherwise might not have. This month’s soundtrack is inspired by the strange serendipity I have experienced recently, and the awesome new friends I made. It’s a little more pop-y and mainstream than my other soundtracks. Deal.

When you wake up the next day and think, “I’m getting too old for this shit”, you’re doing it right. I had a night like that a few weeks ago in Seattle:

Then I got some new ink the next day (thanks John!), and this song was running through my head from the night before. Nope, not gonna apologize for putting a Miley Cyrus song on the blog. Thanks a lot, Jake, for making me watch this:

This next one sounds like waking up too damn early, hunting for coffee in a totally unfamiliar city, and walking up to a fourth floor porch to watch the morning sky fill with light:

Loving Skylar Grey’s new album. My favorite track doesn’t have a video yet (“Back From The Dead”), but this one’s smart and stylish:

Dense. Haunting. Beautiful. These things are not mutually exclusive:

“All I dream of lately is how to get you underneath me”. Okay:

Another “still” video, here for just the song. The song’s from 2005, but I just discovered it last week, right when I needed it. This beautiful, bizarre world (and coincidences in general) creeps me out sometimes.

Ok, imma stop apologizing for the still videos. Just enjoy this. If you haven’t seen this movie yet, why the f not?

Diggin this so, so hard:

Yes please and thank you:

If you dig these, check out the soundtracks for February, April, and May.
