“What? Another webseries announcement?” A few years ago I came up with the idea of pulling some of the dating horror stories from the blog and making them into an original series. It would take place in three cities! It would involve a cast of thousands! Well, then reality hit as I did the math and realized that this was a really ambitious project for my first time out of the gate. I’m still in love with the idea of How To Save Your Own Life, and it’ll always be percolating in the back of my mind until I have the resources to execute it properly.
In the meantime, I’m thrilled to present “This Ends Badly”! This original series takes place in Portland, and follows the lives and romantic foibles of a group of four friends: Summer, Marge, Nick, and Mike. And oh yeah, the “Mike” character is played by a puppet.
It’s funny! It’s sad! It’s cheaper to produce! I provide the voice (and usually the puppeteering) of “Mike”, and the gifted Andrea White, Nick Fauble, and Summer Olsson round out the main cast. We’ll be joined by the talents of John Criscitello, Devin Rentz, and Michael Wheeler, among many others (but not thousands. Yet). The brilliant, skilled Matt Stolfi will be composing the original score for the series from the East Coast! Passion4Puppets in Northern California made the custom puppet. If you want to come help or play, email me at email@example.com, and there will be an announcement here on where to find the series soon.
“This Ends Badly”: because it wouldn’t be as interesting if it didn’t.
